The Farm

Little Woodbatch

Little Woodbatch is a permaculture and regenerative farming project.

It’s a long term, multi-generational plan for our family and community.

It’s the home-base that inspires my food resilience work.

It’s a resource for various local initiatives and training activities.

Little Woodbatch is our small family farm.

While we no longer operate as a commercial market garden (est. 2017-2022), we’re gradually building up production once again for at-home self-sufficency and to share the abundance with our friends, some great local businesses and our community.

We practice seed saving for ourselves and the BC Community Seed Bank and occasionally host training sessions for seed saving on-site.

Forest gardens and permaculture are a big part of the farm landscape, with 3+ acres dedicated to over 400 fruit and nut trees and other soft fruits, herbs, medicinal and dye plants, alongside edible hedges, coppices and meadow spaces for pollinators.

We host several bee hives, and have installed ponds for wildlife.

Keep an eye out for upcoming trainings and events at LWB in 2025.

Our work at home on the farm has been influenced by my PhD research on local food systems and policy. What we do at home also connects with my work beyond our farm gate through local community projects, the Shropshire Good Food Partnership, The Marches Food Network and other projects and programmes.
